The ESD7 and ESD7VFD meetings have been moved to the second Thursday of each month. This change will allow adequate time for financials to be prepared and distributed to the board members. Next monthly meeting will be June 9 at 6:30.
GREAT HAPPENINGS
• We’re excited to share that Hardin County ESD#7 has purchased 1.25 acres at the corner of Hwy 1293 and Hwy 787. This site will become the future home of the Volunteer Fire Department, helping us better serve and protect our community.
• The Hardin County ESD#7 Volunteer Fire Department is honored to work side-by-side with the Saratoga and Segno Volunteer Fire Departments on mutual aid calls. These partnerships strengthen our community, and we are especially proud of our new firefighters stepping up and serving alongside such dedicated teams.
• The Hardin County ESD #7 Volunteer Fire Department is now registered with the Texas A&M Forest Service, which award $15.4 million through forestry grant programs. We are now eligible to begin applying for these grants to help strengthen and equip the department.
• We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the Silsbee Fire Department for the generous donation of a fire truck. While it required a little work, it is now up and running, and we are proud to have it in service. A huge thank you to the Sour Lake Volunteer Fire Department/ESD for their generous donation of a flatbed for our F-350. We’re also glad to share that our Interim Fire Chief, Tommy Shelton, has secured a skid unit that will be installed on the truck. We’re making great progress, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support from neighboring ESD’s as we get our new fire department up and running. Their generosity and commitment to OUR community means so much-thank you for helping us build something strong from the ground up.
• Interim Fire Chief, Tommy Shelton, along with our current volunteer firefighters, continues to participate in weekly training exercises with the Saratoga Volunteer Fire Department. As circumstances permit, additional in-office training will be implemented, and plans are underway to send volunteers to certified training schools.
So what’s next for Hardin County ESD#7? The ESD#7 VFD will continue recruiting new volunteers and currently have 11 dedicated volunteers serving our community.
We are also beginning to explore options for building housing for our fire trucks, with plans to expand over time into a permanent fire station. Our goal is to build as we grow and as resources allow. Thank you to Judge Wayne McDaniel for submitting a grant on behalf of ESD#7 Fire Department to help us begin building our fire department facility. This is a huge step forward for our department and our community.
